THE YOURS IN ELVIS FOREVER FAN CLUB WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1998 IN ORDER TO DISTRIBUTE THE ARTISTIC, POETIC, MUSICAL, AND LITERARY TRIBUTES CREATED BY THORNE PETERS.
Our Fan Club song is: "Somebody Bigger Than You and I."
He lights the way when the road is long
He keeps you company
And with His love to guide you
He walks beside you
Just like He walks with me
When were filled with
despair
Who gives me courage to go from there
And who gives me faith that will never die
Somebody Bigger Than You and I
OH I BELIEVE!
. . that because of the universal appeal of his artistry and image ELVIS PRESLEY
has earned official homage that he will not receive unless we the fans again,
as ever, step up in volume to invoke his name . . . as we did for the stamp
and we continue to do in polls--- even though our votes are discounted---
as we do by purchasing his music and memorabilia in record number---even though
the sales will be miscounted.
For being the man that creates more tourism than any other individual, creating
a multi billion dollar ripple of commerce in this country, while building
up the industries of Memphis where Graceland Mansion is the most visited private
home in the world; for his legendary philanthropy and humanity that continues
in his name from his enterprise and his fans; for becoming a transcendent
cultural icon whose words reach across continents and ideologies, to inspire
people to seek love, dream of peace, love thy neighbor, and offer compassion,
and for being the most recognizable figure in the world, it is time for his
memory to be lauded by those who bestow the laurel wreaths.
ELVIS PRESLEY should be given a "NATIONAL DAY OF RECOGNITION," a
day of remembrance, observed on January, 8th . . . though it wouldn't be a
national holiday it would be like Valentine's Day or Mother's Day . hell,
there's even a Ground Hog's Day.
ELVIS PRESLEY should have a "MEDAL OF FREEDOM" named in his honor
for the global recognition his stardom brought to American culture, which
made him the very symbol of the "American Dream" and brought the
world closer together through his music and their love for him.
ELVIS PRESLEY should be awarded the "NOBEL PEACE PRIZE," for the
universal scope of the multitude his message has been sent to for fifty years
and the loving way that they have responded to it.
ELVIS PRESLEY should be awarded a "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT OSCAR" from
The Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences for the global impact his
musical motion pictures have had on several generations and counting.
ELVIS PRESLEY should be awarded a "LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD" from
the Grammys for becoming the most dominant force in the history of music and
the only master who sung his prophecies.
ELVIS PRESLEY should have a plaque at the "ARIZONA WAR MEMORIAL"
in gratitude for the concerts that he performed in 1961 that raised the necessary
funds to complete the memorial after the congressional commission had struggled
for 20 years and was ready to quit.
Memphis International Airport should be renamed ELVIS PRESLEY INTERNATIONAL
AIRPORT, considering that he is the lone tourist attraction that draws the
world to the bluff city.
ELVIS and ELVIS PRESLEY should always be spelled in capital letters.
